Beneath Table Mountain

We made it!
Once we all reached Washington DC, the group was complete at the South Africa Airlines gate in Terminal B. We settled in for a few long flights. Eight hours to Dakkar, Senegal to refuel and let a few passengers off. Then another 8 hours to Johannesburg where we met up with President Hoekstra. No problem getting through customs ..., well, maybe a little problem. We have a buddy system set up so we can very quickly tell if someone is not with us. We had a first chance to work it out there just past immigration and we discovered one couple was missing. We won't say who this couple from Idaho is, or mention work involving state politics in a certain western state. Nor will me mention the "buddy" who wasn't paying attention and let them wonder off til our guide, Mike Smuts, found them. But now all is well.
After a time to stretch in the Jo'burg airport, it was another 2 hour flight to Capetown where you can see your breath outside at night.  So after a few days of travel, it's time to stretch out horizontal and get some sleep. It's 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning, and we need to be out the door in 7 hours.
More to come later. Mike Smuts, our guide, is going to have some amazing stories to tell us.
