Wednesday July 22, Cape Town to Nampula, Mozambique

Up and on the bus early for a 20-minute trip to the Cape Town airport. A relaxing 2-hour flight to Johannesburg, SA, across the terminal and two more hours to Nampula, Mozambique. Good bye cold weather, hello warmth of Africa!

If you're familiar with Cape Town, you're aware that it's far more like Europe than Africa. We left that behind today and definitely entered what most people think of when they think of Africa. Bumpy roads, vendors on the sides of the roads, loud horns and tourists stick out quite plainly!

Our Hotel in Nampula, Mozambique. We’re joined here by Bruce and Deb Dooyema, Kim and Kathy Dooyema, and Dixon and Char Granstra.

Leaving Nampula, we head for the Communities of Fusion, an incredible example of Business as Mission, or a wholistic way to bring the Gospel to a community. In a region that is up to 70% Muslim, the Communities of Fusion partners reach out with businesses that include poultry, eggs and feed. They also have an international school, a school to train people in agriculture and so much more. We joined the “Fusion” community on top of a large rock in the middle of the nearly 1,000 acres for a literal overview of the business/ministry and a chance to get to know eachother in the cool breezes of an African evening.

A toast raised to Dixon Granstra. It’s his birthday today!

We finished the evening with a delicious braai, or, bar-b-que and some rousing singing outdoors under a large tree. This group knows how to sing, and adding voices from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Mozambique was a special treat.
